Australian Pride in Sport Festival

The inaugural Australian Pride in Sport Festival is a nationwide calendar of events to promote inclusivity, celebrate diversity and encourage LGBTQ+ participation in sports across Australia. And Collaroy Tennis Club is proud to be chosen to host our own Pride in Sport Festival twilight event on Saturday, March 22 from 4pm. A real carnival atmosphere will prevail at the Club with lots of fun activities for all! The event will also help raise funds for our community partner, Lifeline Northern Beaches. Come along and be part of the celebrations.

At Collaroy Tennis Club, we believe that the benefits of the sport we love - whether the physical activity itself or the sense of community and psychological wellbeing it provides - should be available and accessible to everyone. So after previously holding incredibly successful AO Pride Nights and a wonderful event to celebrate Sydney WorldPride 2023, the Club has been awarded a grant to participate in the inaugural Australian Pride in Sport Festival. This will be a fantastic Twilight Event, held at the Club from 4pm on Saturday March 22, organised together with Fusion Pride Northern Beaches. Your participation will help raise funds for Lifeline Northern Beaches who each year support hundreds in our local community who are experiencing distress. A REAL CARNIVAL ATMOSPHERE
On Saturday March 22, a real carnival atmosphere will prevail at the Club, with brightly coloured décor, prizes, pumping music, hot BBQ, cool gelato, face painting, pickleball and of course, lots of tennis!

Our community partner, Lifeline Northern Beaches has proudly been serving our local community for more than 50 years, providing quality phone and in-person support to help people through crisis situations. You can help raise much-needed funds by buying raffle tickets and by bidding to play with Layne Beachley and Kirk Pengilly.

"For me personally, attending and speaking at the 2nd AO Pride Night held at Collaroy Tennis Club in January 2024 changed my views on sport for life. This was my first experience playing tennis and I had such an incredible time. The Club’s committee, volunteers and regular club members were all welcoming, kind, patient, helpful and accommodating… not to mention, they were decked out in the best rainbow garb I had ever seen - they even “out-rainbowed” us Fusion folk! This event sparked a newfound appreciation and love of tennis for me, and I have been keen on picking up the sport ever since."
