It was a great day of tennis at Bareena Park Tennis Club on Sunday 23rd February, when Collaroy won the 2025 Tennis Northern Beaches Inter-Club Challenge for the first time.
Up against teams from perennial winning clubs Allambie and Mona Vale, plus others from Bareena Park, Balgowlah, Bayview, Belrose and Careel Bay, our representatives were magnificent! Led by Club Champion Sky in the Ladies Singles, world-ranked senior player, Albin in the Men’s Singles and those famous siblings, Kelly and Michael in the Mixed Doubles, Collaroy toughed out some hard-fought matches to carry the day.
The Club has been competing in this event since its inception in 2019, represented by some wonderful members including Chris G, Michal K, Scott F, Elise T, Paula GR and Maiia to name a few. On several occasions, we’ve missed out on the title by the barest margin (once by a single point!).
This year it was finally our turn! Special mention goes to Sky who was undefeated in all round robin matches before going on to win the Ladies Singles Final. Albin had just the one narrow loss during the round robin, then played superbly to win the Men's Singles Final. Mike and Kelly had narrow losses against the two teams who eventually played the Mixed Doubles Final, but collected enough points to ensure the overall win. Congratulations to all our successful representatives and to the Club as a whole… it’s a result well worth celebrating.
